About this game
2048gb brings the familiar sliding-number puzzle to the original Game Boy. The board starts with a few low-value tiles. Every press on the directional pad moves the entire board in that direction, and two equal tiles that collide merge into one tile with twice the value. A new tile appears after each valid move, so the challenge is not simply making large numbers; it is preserving enough empty cells to keep the board moving.
Use the arrow keys to slide the grid. A productive opening keeps the largest tile in one corner and builds a descending chain beside it. Avoid moving away from that corner unless the board has no safer route. Random swipes create gaps in the chain and make later merges much harder to control. Watch the whole board before each move, because a merge on one side can change the order of tiles on the other side.
The target is a 2048 tile, but a run can continue as long as a legal move remains. If the grid becomes crowded, focus on combining the smallest pairs first instead of chasing one large merge. Keeping one row or column ordered gives incoming tiles a predictable place to land and leaves an escape direction when the center fills up.
Because every valid move adds another tile, an empty-looking board can become crowded quickly. Before sliding, count which pairs will merge and where the remaining tiles will stop. A move that creates two merges is usually stronger than one that only shifts space, but protecting the corner chain takes priority. If an unwanted tile enters the high-value row, merge around it before it splits the chain into separate sections.

Quick tips
Keep the highest-value tile in one corner and build smaller tiles toward it.
Check whether a move breaks your ordered row before committing to it.
When space is tight, clear small pairs first to reopen the board.
