About this game

Concentration Room is a card-matching game for the NES by Damian Yerrick. A biochemical lab accident has exposed the player to a neurotoxin, and keeping a clear head means working through tables of face-down emblems. Turn over two cards at a time, remember their positions, and keep each matching pair. A missed pair flips back over and makes the next choice a test of memory rather than speed.

The game offers story, solitaire, versus CPU, and two-player modes. Deck sizes range from 10 cards to a full 72-card table, so a short round can be used to learn the symbols before attempting the larger layouts. In two-player mode, turns pass after a failed match and the first player to secure half of the available pairs wins.

Use the arrow keys to move through menus and across the table. X maps to the NES A button for confirming choices and turning cards; Z maps to B for secondary prompts. Begin with a smaller deck and name each emblem mentally as it appears. When two similar symbols are close together, remember their row and column instead of relying on color alone. Larger tables reward clearing known pairs early so fewer hidden positions remain to track.

The variable deck sizes make the game useful for both quick sessions and longer competitive rounds. Small layouts reveal how the symbols differ, while the largest table demands a consistent scanning pattern. Work from one edge of the grid instead of jumping randomly between rows, and avoid reopening a known card until its partner appears. Against another player, an opponent's missed turn is still valuable information, so watch every reveal rather than planning only during your own move.

Quick tips

Start with a 10- or 20-card deck before moving to the full 72-card table.

Remember a card by both its emblem and its row-and-column position.

In versus play, clear a known pair before testing uncertain cards so the turn stays under your control.
